Prof. Peiqiang Yu

Dr. Peiqiang Yu is Professor and Ministry of Agriculture Strategic Research Chair, College of Agriculture and Bioresources, University of Saskatchewan. Dr. Yu received his Ph.D. from the University of Melbourne and MSc from Wageningen Agricultural University. Since his appointment Dr. Yu has developed an internationally recognized program that focuses on feed feed molecular structure and nutrition interaction. Dr Yu leads a lab that is only one of a few internationally that utilize cutting edge synchrotron techniques. Having published more than 300 SCI referred journal articles in leading scientific journals and 20 scientific book chapters. Dr. Yu has pioneered the use of advanced synchrotron-based techniques for studying molecular nutrition and molecular structure. Dr. Yu has a passion for statistics which he teaches to graduate students in university. It is fair to say that virtually every graduate student that goes through the Department of Animal Science relies on Dr. Yu for statistical training/advice, as well as many of the PDF, Researchers and Faculty. Dr. Yu has made an outstanding contribution to the field of feed science and nutrition in Canada and internationally. Dr. Yu has been awarded a highly prestigious CSAS Society Award for “Excellence in Nutrition and Meat Science”.
